What is Technical SEO?
Technical SEO is the part of search engine optimisation that makes sure crawlers can fetch, render, index and correctly interpret a website. It covers canonical URLs, robots.txt and sitemaps, redirects, JavaScript rendering, schema.org structured data and Core Web Vitals, plus crawl budget on large shops. It is the foundation that content and AEO build on – on its own it will not earn rankings, but gaps in it can hold them back.
How we use it at Koda Plus
Our technical audits are based on server logs and Search Console reports; we then tidy up canonical URLs, robots.txt and sitemaps, implement JSON-LD structured data and improve Core Web Vitals. On shops we rein in the filter and sort URLs that waste crawl budget. Our own site is checked by a script that goes through every URL in the sitemap and verifies titles, descriptions, canonicals, hreflang and JSON-LD, among other things.
When it makes sense
- Pages are not getting indexed or keep dropping out
- Your shop generates thousands of filter and sort URLs
- You are planning a migration or a URL restructure
- Content only appears after JavaScript has run
